Rolling Mill Design Expertise Focus
"Possibly the most experienced group of specialist rolling mill designers in the UK, owned wholly by
British Directors, has set up as Parkegate Engineering Consultants Ltd and the current order book, it is
claimed, already includes in excess of £1/2 million of design work alone.
Operating from attractive modern offices in Poole, since April 1997, Parkegate can draw on 400 years of
combined experience in metals engineering, in-house.
The four main directors, are well known to the industry having been formerly with Davy International,
between them having completed 120 years in their specialised fields.
Neil Winkley, managing director, is responsible for liaison and project control with major clients.
Malcolm Townend, engineering director and civil engineer, will oversee the process and engineering
parameters, ensuring total quality and adherence to design.
Alan Uff, sales director, with the added speciality of sourcing used plant to buyers' specification prior
to Parkegate, will undertake any upgrade or enhancement requirements.
John Meaden, technical director, will be responsible for process technical specifications.
The specialist team is further supported by an additional 12 'key' design engineers, also recruited from
Davy.
Parkegate enjoys strong links with 'major players' in the global metals industry; their expertise covers
all types of steel, stainless steel and non-ferrous rolling mill plant, including hot mills, cold mills,
foil mills and retrofit upgrades. In addition, the Parkegate Design experience covers various machines
for process lines. Fluid systems, process control, and electrical engineering are also catered for.
Parkegate is a truly international operation, with on-going projects taking place in the USA, Indonesia,
Germany, Korea, Norway, Italy, Sweden, and of course various locations in the UK. Customers for used
market are mainly from the third world countries.
With discussions taking place with 'household names' in the industry, by supplying quality engineering
solutions, based on extensive experience and rigorous adherence to process and multi-disciplined design
eviews, Parkegate feels that it is set for a solid future."
