£1.5M Avesta Upgrade Goes to Parkegate

"An order, worth around £1.5M, for two stainless steel mill upgrades, has been awarded by Avesta Sheffield to UK based Parkegate Engineering Consultants, located in Poole, Dorset.

The two upgrades will be carried out at Avesta's Panteg Works in South Wales, on the Sendzimir Cold Rolling Mill and the 2 High Planishing Mill. The upgrading contract will include work to the uncoiling and coiling equipment to assist production flexibility, and to allow larger coils to be processed in the future. Automatic gauge and closed loop shape control actuators will be fitted to enhance consistency of both material quality and production. Multi-strip wiping equipment will increase wiping efficiency and contribute to improved mill performance.

This is the latest in a series of contracts undertaken recently by Parkegate, whose order book in 1996 amounted to over £6M for metals business worldwide."
